Halloween is gone, Christmas is coming!

 

Long time no see. I'm terrible at keeping this little blog updated. Anyway, Halloween is gone and I had fun celebrating it in my Splendid Sampler blocks!

 

This year I finally had the chance to buy some pretty cute Halloween fabrics so I had some cute material! The ghost and the eyes of the spiders are GLOW IN THE DARK!

 

Right now I'm working on Christmas gifts and Christmas stuff. Every year my family donates some money to Unicef plus my MIL makes the most adorable Christmas decorations to donate to their booth to raise money. This year I am making zipper pouches for them to sell, I really hope it helps them raise money for the children. My goal is to make at least 10 zipper pouches!

Some Sewing for Me!

  Good morning everybody! Today is a sunny Sunday, exactly what I needed to sneak in my garden and take nice pictures about the last thing I sew. Finally something for me and something I very much needed! The Weighted Pin Cushion with Scrap Bag by Rob Apparel ! Link: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=SRQav7xc8dk It's a great tutorial! Go check it! :)   I'm very pleased I was finally able to use this fabrics I bought long time ago (so I don't even know anymore what collection is this, sorry!). I did not have enough for the inside of the bag so I used a solid. I'm also very happy I was able to use two squares of this panel I had. It's so pretty! Now I even have pins on the pincushion portion of the panel :) It fits!!   Mine is not weighted because I did not have what I needed, so I used scraps of polyester batting and used that. Then I sew some velcro and sticked the other half of it on my sewing table. For my use it's much better

Or maybe not. But I love to share my love for quilting and creating with the world, so here I am. I love Halloween. Even though I live in Italy and this is not originally part of my tradition, it's still something I feel deeply connected to. I guess it has something to do with my year as an exchange student in Vermont: I lived Halloween for real, on my own skin, even partecipating to an Halloween musical in the woods at night with a path of carved and glowing pumpkins so something sticked with me. I've seen quite a lot Hexagon Halloween quilts all over the web and I gave a look to some tutorials. Happy New Year! Let's hope 2018 is a good one

Solda, my second home, Christmas day. What a vacation! Happy New Year! I'm very hopeful for this 2018, so many things that I want to accomplish. Also in my quilting journey! I already wrote down a list of goals, which include starting to design my own patterns. It's something I've been thinking for months, so I'm eager to try it. Sneak Peek! This was gifted for Christmas. I am pretty sure about the first pattern I want to write. It's something simple but useful that I've already made twice as gifts. I don't even own one LOL! So next one is going to be mine. It's not something incredible or new, but I like it a lot and also I think it will help me learn to write tutorials and it will be an easy and friendly beginner pattern for everyone.
