Can't believe I won!




I'm currently following the Splendid Sampler sew along by Pat Sloan and Jane Davidson.

Although I'm a little behind since I have not made all the past blocks already I enjoy the journey and all it has been teaching me :)

Since we just surpassed the 50th block, during the week of turning over the half of this amazing project there was a celebration with a lot of giveaways.

Well I actually WON something! I cannot believe it!
I won the PERFECT BOX OF COLORS by Pat Sloan of AURIFIL THREAD! How sweet! Each spool contains 1300 mt and there are 12 spools inside!!! I'm so thrilled and grateful!

Block 49 - Summer's Gift
Meantime allow me to show some of my latest blocks of the Splendid Sampler! I'm doing mine Scrappy but I also making a Sewing themed version of some blocks for a wall hanging for my sewing corner and a Christmas version of some other blocks (so basically I should end with three quilts of different sizes :D )

Some Sewing for Me!

  Good morning everybody! Today is a sunny Sunday, exactly what I needed to sneak in my garden and take nice pictures about the last thing I sew. Finally something for me and something I very much needed! The Weighted Pin Cushion with Scrap Bag by Rob Apparel ! Link: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=SRQav7xc8dk It's a great tutorial! Go check it! :)   I'm very pleased I was finally able to use this fabrics I bought long time ago (so I don't even know anymore what collection is this, sorry!). I did not have enough for the inside of the bag so I used a solid. I'm also very happy I was able to use two squares of this panel I had. It's so pretty! Now I even have pins on the pincushion portion of the panel :) It fits!!   Mine is not weighted because I did not have what I needed, so I used scraps of polyester batting and used that. Then I sew some velcro and sticked the other half of it on my sewing table. For my use it's much better ...

A Kindle Cover

  My sister graduated from high school. Hubby and I decided to get her a Kindle, just like we do, since we all love books and reading. Of course nothing is like having a gorgeous paper book in your hands, but often, like when travelling, it's much easier to have one Kindle with tons of books inside. Plus you can't ruin pages with a Kindle. It has no pages! LOL   Of course when we decided to buy it I said: "I'm gonna make a Kindle cover for her! You know... it's better to keep it safe!" We are both a little clumsy. Just a tiny little bit!    Since she loves science and physics I picked this lovely fabric months ago for her, along with the numbers fabric. They match so well together!! The science fabric is "It's Elementary" by wilmingtonprints.com and the another one... no idea sorry!   I went for a magnetic snap to close it covering the upper sewing with a nice star shaped button. I was in Iceland for two weeks!

Photo taken at Westman Islands I've been in Iceland for the past two weeks. Sorry for not writing as I should have done, I wanted to make a quick post thru my tablet but the trip was very demanding physically and I just couldn't focus on it :) Skogafoss This was a dream trip for my husband and for me. We love adventures and we love to hike and to explore new places. Iceland was all of this and so much more! A Glacier Lagoon We saw amazing things, we ate great food, we saw whales, puffins, thousands of birds... it was breathtaking! Skalanes This is just a quick back. In the next posts I'll tell you more about my trip and the quilting involved <3
