Block 1 - Hearts Aflutter by Pat Sloan

This week I want to talk about this wonderful project created by Pat Sloan and Jane Davidson, two wonderful quilters!

Block 2 - Wings by Jane Davidson

I discovered this Sew Along following Pat Sloan's quilting classroom page on Facebook. I was immediately excited so I decided to give it a try. I'm doing my blocks SCRAPPY.

Block 3 - Lots of love by Melissa Corry
Block 5 - Simple Simon by Celine Perkins
It's a free Sew Along with a total of 100 blocks. Each week two blocks are released, one on Thursday and one on Sunday. It started on 14th February 2016.






Block 7 - Snug as a Bug by Amy Sinibaldi


This is truly a marvellous learning experience. I get to try a lot of new techniques, I discover new quilters I didn't know about, I'm inspired by what other quilters create and post on the dedicated Facebook page... it's amazing!!


Block 8 - Friends around the square by Julie Karasek
I love all the blocks. Right now the last released block is number 27, I've been running behind due to sewing quite a lot of gifts, but I don't mind. During summer I'll catch up! It's not a race, it's a wonderful journey!


Block 9 - Local quilt shop by Jane Davidson
I'm thrilled because we're basically building a huge encyclopedia! I could quilt with these blocks for the rest of my life and never be bored!

Block 10 - Iowa by Sherri McConnell

There is a lot of appliquè, embroidery, piecing... I'm thrilled! I only hope there will be an hexagon-based block because I love hexagons!

Block 11 - Crocheted Thoughts by Alyssa Thomas

Some Sewing for Me!

  Good morning everybody! Today is a sunny Sunday, exactly what I needed to sneak in my garden and take nice pictures about the last thing I sew. Finally something for me and something I very much needed! The Weighted Pin Cushion with Scrap Bag by Rob Apparel ! Link: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=SRQav7xc8dk It's a great tutorial! Go check it! :)   I'm very pleased I was finally able to use this fabrics I bought long time ago (so I don't even know anymore what collection is this, sorry!). I did not have enough for the inside of the bag so I used a solid. I'm also very happy I was able to use two squares of this panel I had. It's so pretty! Now I even have pins on the pincushion portion of the panel :) It fits!!   Mine is not weighted because I did not have what I needed, so I used scraps of polyester batting and used that. Then I sew some velcro and sticked the other half of it on my sewing table. For my use it's much better

My Spooky Spiderweb Wall Hanging Quilt

Pic of the work in progress: my black nail polish was also very fitting the theme! Hi! My name is Julia and this is my way too much neglected blog. I wonder, would this be the turning point? Maybe. Or maybe not. But I love to share my love for quilting and creating with the world, so here I am. I love Halloween. Even though I live in Italy and this is not originally part of my tradition, it's still something I feel deeply connected to. I guess it has something to do with my year as an exchange student in Vermont: I lived Halloween for real, on my own skin, even partecipating to an Halloween musical in the woods at night with a path of carved and glowing pumpkins so something sticked with me. I've seen quite a lot Hexagon Halloween quilts all over the web and I gave a look to some tutorials. It did seem like a pretty cool project but everything was way too colorful for me this time (THIS TIME: I love colors! The brightest the better) so I fixed my mind on a black and whit

A Kindle Cover

  My sister graduated from high school. Hubby and I decided to get her a Kindle, just like we do, since we all love books and reading. Of course nothing is like having a gorgeous paper book in your hands, but often, like when travelling, it's much easier to have one Kindle with tons of books inside. Plus you can't ruin pages with a Kindle. It has no pages! LOL   Of course when we decided to buy it I said: "I'm gonna make a Kindle cover for her! You know... it's better to keep it safe!" We are both a little clumsy. Just a tiny little bit!    Since she loves science and physics I picked this lovely fabric months ago for her, along with the numbers fabric. They match so well together!! The science fabric is "It's Elementary" by wilmingtonprints.com and the another one... no idea sorry!   I went for a magnetic snap to close it covering the upper sewing with a nice star shaped button.
